Privacy Policy
We built AuraAsk to need as little of your information as possible. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
The short version
- You can use AuraAsk without an account.
- Your journal, streak, levels and collection are stored in your own browser (local storage), not on our servers.
- Questions you ask are processed to generate an answer and are not stored by us.
- If you subscribe to the daily fortune email, we store your email address only to send it, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
- We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, and Google AdSense to show ads. Both may use cookies.
Information stored on your device
AuraAsk saves your progress (readings, streaks, experience points, collected sigils, chosen orb, sound preference and whether you've subscribed) in your browser's local storage so it's there the next time you visit. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to share a reading. You can erase it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for auraask.com.
Questions and answers
When you ask a question, the text is sent to our server so the answer engine can compose a reply. We do not save your question or link it to you. If an optional AI writing service is enabled, the question and draft answer may be sent to that provider solely to polish the wording. When you play an answer aloud, only the answer text (never your question) is sent to our voice provider, ElevenLabs, to generate the audio.
Shared reading links contain the question and answer inside the link itself. Anyone with the link can see that reading, so only share questions you're comfortable sharing.
The daily fortune email
If you sign up for the Morning Oracle, we collect your email address and store it with our email delivery provider, Resend, solely to send you the daily fortune. Every email contains a one-click unsubscribe link. We never sell or rent your email address.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to measure things like how many people visit, which pages they read and how often answers are shared. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies and collects information such as your approximate location, device type and pages viewed. We do not send your questions or your email address to Google Analytics. You can learn more at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Advertising
AuraAsk is free because it is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense to display ads.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices.
- Where required by law (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), we ask for your consent before personalized ads or non-essential cookies are used.
Your cookie choices
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland see a cookie banner on their first visit. Until you choose, analytics and advertising storage are denied by default using Google Consent Mode v2, so Google tags only send limited, cookieless signals. You can accept all, reject all, or choose analytics and advertising separately, and you can change your mind at any time with the "Cookie settings" link in the site footer or the menu on the orb page. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. AuraAsk itself relies on local storage rather than cookies, but Google Analytics and Google AdSense set cookies as described above. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings; the orb will still work, although ads may be less relevant.
Children
AuraAsk is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us their email address, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal information, and to withdraw consent at any time. Because most AuraAsk data never leaves your device, the main personal data we hold is your email address if you subscribed. To exercise any of these rights, email us and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell personal information.
Data retention and security
We keep subscriber email addresses until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Server logs that may contain technical information such as IP addresses are kept for a short period by our hosting provider, Vercel, for security and debugging. All traffic to AuraAsk is encrypted with HTTPS.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will also be announced on the site.
